The Wild Atlantic Challenge

My name is Ian. A small group of friends have kindly agreed to join me in undertaking this challenge (Conor McHale, Niall McHale, Paraic Kelly, Ronan Jennings, Shane Hughes & Michael Burke), to fundraise for the Special Care and Baby Unit (SCBU) in Mayo University Hospital.
The role of SCBU is caring for all babies delivered who are sick or who have more than routine care requirements. The aim of the SCBU is to provide a high standard of family-centred care, for unwell and premature newborn babies and their families.
From first-hand experience, the nurses and staff in this ward are exceptional and the care that they provide is remarkable. The staff offer incredible care to all babies and emotional support for families at what can be a very difficult time.

Having received care from the SCBU team in February of this year, we would like to raise funds to go towards the vital care of babies in the future.

The challenge we have decided to undertake is to drive our vintage and classic cars, the complete Wild Atlantic Way, over 3 days. This journey is in excess of 3,100 kilometers. We will complete this venture on the October Bank Holiday weekend, arriving back to Castlebar on Sunday 29th.

We would like to raise awareness and much-needed funds for this exceptional unit, all donations big or small, are greatly appreciated.
