The floods in Pakistan have been devastating. Their impact is being felt across all parts of the country, from its rural heartlands to its bustling cities and from its developed cores to its neglected peripheries. No part of the country has been spared. Yet, especially in more peripheral areas, such as KPK and Saraiki Wasaib, relief efforts have been patchy, absent, and inconsistent. Building upon the experience of previous years, it is the peripheries, already neglected for a variety of reasons, that suffer most during these times and continue to be impacted even after the water has receded.
We are a group of Pakistanis based in Toronto and the surrounding areas. We are working with Jamhoor (https://www.jamhoor.org/) to collect and distribute funds to support relief efforts and provide aid to flood affected communities in neglected areas, such as Buner, Jalalpur Pirwala and others. We are coordinating with individuals and groups who are working with these communities, many of whom will continue to struggle in the coming weeks and months, if not longer. Their needs are vast and diverse--from boats for rescue efforts, to food and clothing, tool machinery to rebuild homes and infrastructure. This is why we are working with people directly connected to these areas, so your contribution can go to those in need and to support what is required at this moment.
