From Ashley:
"On 12/6/2022 at 2 pm, our lives changed.
Our 14yr old daughter, Savannah, came home from school early with a bad headache and ear pain. She took a nap and woke up around 2 pm. She came down and asked for something for her pain. She then went completely pale and passed out. EMS was called to the house, and when they got there she was alert and talking. Since all vitals were good, I refused transport and instead took her to the walk-in.
As soon as we walked in the door Savanna passed out again. That was the second time within 30min. EMS was called to the walk-in and we were transported to Providence Hospital's ER. Savannah then passed out again as soon as the doctor walked away. After a 14 hr ER visit, all tests came back clear and we were discharged only to be back at the ER the next day. We were then admitted to Swedish hospital and transported via EMS. We were discharged the next afternoon with a soft diagnosis of POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).
Less than 24hr later we ended up back at the ER, but this time I drove straight to the Children’s Hospital in Seattle. We spent two nights there and received the diagnosis of POTS.
We thought things had calmed down but unfortunately, they did not. On January 10th Savannah passed out at school. She was out for 10 minutes. At the time, this was the longest amount of time Savannah had lost consciousness. Sadly, two days later on January 12th Savannah passed out at home and was out for 20 minutes. When she came to she said she couldn’t breathe and was scared.
Through all the tests and evaluations we were referred to a cardiologist. After seeing the cardiologist, Savannah was put on a heart monitor she was to wear for 30 days. We thought we were in the clear as symptoms improved. Savannah had several good days. We were wrong though. On February 1st Savannah passed out at school for 25 minutes. This is now the longest amount of time she has lost conciousness.
The school had called for EMS and Savannah was transported to Providence Hospital where, out of frustration, I demanded she be transferred to Children’s Hospital. Thankfully, they were able to transfer us there. Once we arrived, savannah passed out on the nurses twice. They admitted her with orders for an MRI."
On February 2nd, Savannah passed out on her nurse again which prompted a rush of nurses and doctors to her room. She currently remains at Children's Hospital in Seattle.
Through this last month, there have been multiple EMS rides and medical transfers. There have been multiple overnight stays and lots of tests and specialists. The doctors are still not sure exactly what is going on or how to help Savannah get back to a more normal life. She has missed a lot of school.
The medical bills are starting to come in and are sky-high, even with two insurance policies. Savannah's medical bills are already high . Ashely and Scott are having to miss work and spend extra money on gas and food while Savannah goes from one hospital or doctor to the next in search of answers.
Please consider helping this hard-working family by donating. All donations will go directly toward Savannah's medical expenses. Thank you.
