Hello everyone, I am asking for help for my niece Violet Meninga. Child of Joel (Son of Ted and Faythe Meninga) and Natalie (Daughter of Jane and Nick Martino), sister to Hank and Jack Meninga. Please, more than anything, keep her in your prayers. Violet has already endured more than anyone should and faces a long and strenuous journey ahead of her. I know God will give her the strength, patience and resilience she needs to get through this battle.
For those of you who don't know, Violet has stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. She has a tumor the size of a football pressing on her chest. The last few weeks have turned Violet's life upside down. A swollen neck lead to a doctor's appointment, which swiftly lead to X-Rays and CT scans. From there, it was a wait for a biopsy. Unfortunately, the biopsy in Boise was inconclusive. There had not been enough tissue taken from the tumor to produce an answer. The family then waited and waited. They prayed about it and decided to head straight to MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.
Violet was admitted to the ER straight away. Another biopsy was then done a few days later as well as a PET scan and many other tests. As you can imagine, the waiting was agonizing for Violet and her family. Symptoms worsen every day.
On the 7th day at MD Anderson, cancer was confirmed, Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. Chemo was just started today(8/18). It has been very hard physically and emotionally for Violet. She will stay in Texas until Saturday if there are no complications with the chemo. After that, she will continue her treatment for six months in Boise.
The good news is even with stage 4 cancer, there is a high remission rate. We pray that the treatment will work, and Violet will be on her way to remission! These past few weeks have been incredibly difficult for Violet and all the Meningas. The following six months will continue to be a long and painful journey.
I set this gofundme up to help with medical costs, travel and accommodation for time spent in Texas, time spent away from work and any other unexpected expenses that pop up during this time.
Violet has always been tenacious, fearless and steadfast. Her faith is unwavering. She has the best heart, and I have no doubt she will beat this! But, she will need all the support she can get in the coming months!
If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. - Matthew 17:20
