Support for Wayland

I'm Adrian Coleman, brother of prison activist/abolitionist Wayland "X" Coleman.

Because of the potential health and safety concerns of mice infestation and feces-infested food trays, milk cartons etc. where Wayland is located, he along with other incarcerated people, do not eat the prison-made food. Even under these conditions, Wayland never thinks twice about sharing what he has with others who need support. The incarcerated population has the right to adequate and nutritious food.

I am seeking funding to help Wayland and others fulfill a basic human need: the need to eat.

The prison kitchen is infested with MICE, while food trays and other food items are covered in mice droppings and urine before they are rinsed off and served to the incarcerated population. In the morning, when breakfast is delivered, cartons of milk are served with mice droppings stuck to them. 

Wayland is vitamin D deficient. He washes every carton of milk given to him with soap and pours it into a cup because he will not drink out of the carton given the conditions. Because Wayland is not financially stable, he eats once a day, often the same thing each day. He budgets what he has as best he can to make food and water last as long as possible.

 Incarcerated workers must work three 8-hour shifts to purchase a tube of toothpaste, and another day to buy a toothbrush. Therefore, even if Wayland and any other incarcerated individuals were to rely on the $1 a day pay, it is not nearly sustainable.
