Help Bring Dale Cantwell home

Hi my name is Sonya and my aim is to bring my son Dale home.

To do this I will need to get my house modified with a ground floor extension built.

On the 28th July 2023 one of the worst phonecalls a mother could possibly receive.

My son Dale had been in a near fatal incident,he was out on his bike that Friday evening when he got knocked off it and took a bang to his head.

He underwent life saving surgery in Beaumont hospital that night and was put on a life support machine as his injury was so severe.

He had a TBI(traumatic brain injury)and we were told he only had a 2% chance of surviving.

Dale was unable to breath by himself for the following 12 months after the incident and during that time he has had 4 major brain surgeries since ,including a shunt been fitted in Dale's head while in Beaumont hospital.

Dale spent 13 months in between Beaumont and Connolly hospital up until August of this year to were he is now at the NRH national rehab hospital in Dun laoghaire.

To this day my son is unable to relate back to us as his whole quality of life has been taken from him at a very young age.

This has had an horrific impact on our daily lives including his 10 year old Brother Brodie who missis him dearly everyday.

We as a family need to support Dale and are at his bedside everyday to try give him strength while in the care of the great team in the NRH.

We are now at a stage were dales time will come to an end in this facility and would love nothing more than to bring my son home to were he belongs.

Unfortunately Dale's needs won't allow this at the moment as he needs 24hrs care and a modified home for his needs which include a ground floor bedroom with a ceiling hoist and an accessible bathroom which is essential for his needs and to reunite Dale with his family.

To do this work we were quoted an estimated 120000euro for it to be carried out.

They say the home is were the heart is but Dale if you are not here with us then my heart will never be either.

We would be extremely grateful if anyone can help us on this journey.
