Help us Find a Home ( . . . Again)
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Hearts,
My name is Mari, and I am reaching out to you during a profoundly challenging time for me and my two teenage daughters, Alice (age 12) and Olivia (age 14). We have recently faced an unexpected eviction without any notice, which has left us homeless and in urgent need of support. with no notice we watched as strangers through all of our belongings out onto our front porch as though they were trash; scrambling to grab a couple of items as people we'd never met rifled through everything and shoved them all into trash bags. We still haven't been able to locate our medications, my prescription glasses, underwear or socks for both children, nor the majority of school supplies for all three of us. While this was heartbreaking to me, it was absolutely gut-wrenching to watch the sadness, fear, and confusion that my daughters were feeling as this happened right before their eyes but completely out of their control. The timing was even worse: literally the night before they were supposed to start school for the year; Olivia was due to begin her Freshman year of high school and Alice was to start 7th grade (middle school is unpleasant and difficult in the best of circumstances - which these absolutely were not).
This situation has taken a significant toll on our mental and physical health. It is particularly hard on all of us as we just moved into this home as our opportunity to start over just a short 4 months ago; we had just left unsafe circumstances where a protective order was warranted - the three of us had finally begun to rebuild and trust the safety of the home we created. Now, I don't know what I'm going to sleep tonight . Most of all, as a mother it breaks my heart to see my daughters struggling with the uncertainty of our future. We have always tried to stay strong and support one another, but the weight of this crisis is overwhelming.
We are currently seeking funds to secure temporary housing and essential living expenses such as food, clothing, and transportation. Our goal is to find a stable environment where we can begin to heal and rebuild our lives. With your help, we can regain a sense of safety and normalcy.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a tremendous difference in our lives. Additionally, if you could share our story with your networks, it would mean the world to us. We believe that with the kindness and generosity of people like you, we can overcome this hardship and find a brighter future.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your support, whether through donations or sharing our campaign, gives us hope and strength during this difficult time.
With gratitude, love, and humility,
<3
