Hello,
my name is Bink (they/them). I’m 27, and I was born and raised in Thailand. I have been living in England since I was 12. I’m an artist, specialised in and passionate about filmmaking and photography. I also like to cook for my loved ones, walks in nature, the library and many other nice things in life.
Now, I am asking for your help.
After years of constant struggle and careful deliberation, I have decided that I want a top surgery.
The journey of my relationship with my body has been both painful and joyful, often at the same time. I learned to have a better relationship with my body as a result of years of practising self-love, having good friends and people around me, moving my body, meditating, and professional help. So, contrary to a feeling of discontent, it is precisely this loving relationship that has made me reach this decision. The issue is not that I don’t love my body - I’ve reached the point where I no longer feel okay with the daily stress and sadness of gender dysphoria that is being caused by having a body part attached to me that doesn’t feel like my own.
This surgery will tremendously improve my mental and physical health.
Transgender healthcare in the UK is in a crisis. It is highly inaccessible: the waiting lists are years too long, and the costs of any gender-affirming surgeries have skyrocketed. Hence, I am asking those who care and are able to support me however much they can. I cannot do this on my own.
Based on my research and the stories and experiences of other trans people, the total amount of money required for my top surgery, including diagnosis appointments, the surgery itself, an overnight stay and travel costs, will amount to £8,500.
There are more ways in which you can help me raise money. As part of my fundraising campaign, I’m going to do the Manchester 10K in May 2023. It will be my first time running a 10K! A group of friends, as well as Rain On Me FC are going to do it with me. If you’d like to also be part of this as well, feel free to contact me.
