Audrey was hit with a thrown ball directly in the forehead in April of 2013 while playing softball. She was subsequently diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain Injury through SPECT brain scans and has struggled for close to a decade to get a hold of chronic pain and numerous symptoms. They have severely impacted her day to day and quality of life and it has been a rocky road to recovery.
Audrey is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. She’s warm hearted, funny, compassionate, introspective, humble and endlessly giving. We’ve watched her go from a vibrant, outgoing, independent person to someone who is mostly homebound due to chronic pain and medical issues. It is like watching a fully lit candle slowly dwindle and flicker.
There are many additional routes Audrey can explore for medical care and pain relief, but unfortunately, they are expensive and not a lot is covered through her disability coverage. We created this GoFundMe to be able to assist in getting additional medical treatment. So many people have always asked her how they can help, and she admittedly did not know how to respond and has said she was somewhat embarrassed and ashamed. There should be no shame in asking for help.
Audrey wants to have a future where she’s able to rescue animals who have given her so much comfort in her darkest days and give back to the Traumatic Brain Injury community that has offered her and her family so much support. We’re hopeful there’s a brighter future ahead with additional treatment where this is possible. Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you can not donate, please send positive thoughts and prayers Audrey’s way.
