Support the Cook Family

Claire and Tyler joyfully welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Jack Alexander Cook, on March 28, 2024. Around six months old, Jack began experiencing seizures, prompting Tyler and Claire to seek immediate care at Seattle Children’s Hospital. After thorough evaluation, Jack was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that affects the body’s ability to process copper. Copper is essential for proper brain and organ function, and without it, significant health challenges arise.

Jack is currently undergoing copper injections, which have shown promising results, though his journey remains challenging. He is also on medication to manage and prevent seizures. Claire and Tyler have already made numerous trips to Seattle Children’s Hospital, where they are working closely with a team of specialists to monitor and adjust Jack’s care plan. This ongoing medical journey will require lifelong attention. At home, Jack is also receiving physical and occupational therapy to support his development.

Through all of this, Claire, Tyler, and Jack’s grandparents have been dedicated, loving caregivers, doing everything possible to help Jack thrive despite the obstacles he faces. Jack is a sweet, resilient, and playful baby who continues to bring joy to everyone around him.

However, the financial burden of Jack’s care is growing. Medical bills, travel expenses, accommodations in Seattle, and other necessary costs are beginning to add up. Claire and Tyler are doing all they can to ensure Jack receives the best care, but they need the support of their community. Also, because Claire carries this rare genetic condition, her future children could inherit it. To eliminate this risk for future generations, they have decided to pursue IVF as a preventative measure.
