In memory of Henry

Hello everyone, I am fundraising on behalf of my Dad, Henry.

Henry has been fighting an on-going battle with Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) cancer that is rare. There is no cure for PMP cancer.

Henry left Vietnam when he was just a teenager to start a new life for his family in Canada. He has never taken a vacation and has worked tirelessly to bring his immediate family to Canada. Henry has never known what’s it like to not work. When he met my Mom, he knew that he wanted to start his own family. He worked hard to provide for us.

Maybe you’ve met him.

He was the Asian man that worked at the hotdog stand at Yonge and Dundas in the early 2000s. He radiated enthusiasm for his job and took great pride in working in this industry. He loved meeting new people and exploring what the city offered. Working downtown, Henry was exposed to the downsides of downtown living. He saw the economic disparities and the need for more social programs. He would sometimes give up his tips at his job to provide a meal to someone struggling. Henry was not shy to lend someone his metro pass if they needed fare money for the bus.

We’ve been told by my Dad’s Oncologist and Surgeon that his prognosis is poor. We don’t know how much time we have left for him. We are devastated with this news, but we also want to remember him for his tenacity, generosity and humour. We started this go fund me page to raise funds for his memorial when the times come.
