Stand with a Family Battling Eviction
Donation protected
I am raising emergency funds for a family facing eviction. This request is urgent, and I would like to get as many donations as I can during the next 14 days. This family is very important to me, and they are struggling against an unfair system. They are doing everything they can to fight, but they could really use our help along the way.
A note from them: I’m a Black woman with a background in early childhood education, nonprofit program management, and advocacy. I’m 28 years old. I’ve been an organizer for marginalized groups in NYC for 10 years. I am queer, disabled, and grew up in poverty, but I’ve spent my entire adult life fighting for others to experience equity and the chance to thrive that we all deserve. I’m now in the worst financial hole I’ve ever found myself in after escaping a DV situation and losing my job during the transition because of ableism in the workplace. I am facing eviction and homelessness, and I have exhausted myself trying to find work to rectify the situation. I will keep fighting, but I need support. I need help keeping a roof over my head.
Anything helps, and if you can't give, please share this fundraiser with friends, family, and community members.
If you have questions or concerns please reach out to me. I’ve used my own image at the request of the folks receiving the funds in order to protect their anonymity.
