Help our Amber
Donation protected
UPDATE #4:
Amber is being discharged today, amazingly. No one can believe it. She’s slowly reading through all the messages on her phone and what messages I received on her behalf.
Thank you everyone for your support. She keeps looking at the donors and can’t believe her support system is so vast. As the rest of the loose ends are tied up, Amber will be resting and regaining her muscular strength and lung capacity through physiotherapy and other physical therapies.
I will be closing the go fund me soon.
We all truly wanna say from the depths of our hearts,
Thank you!
UPDATE #3:
If I haven’t reached out personally to thank you, thank you. I’ve forgotten who I’ve messaged and who I haven’t, but thank you to everyone (I can’t express it enough).
Amber beat so many expectations for her recovery and has been surprising us all. All the prayers and good intentions worked, and for now, things are looking really good (aside from a few more pokes and prods to get through). She is off oxygen weeks earlier than expected. Tonight, Amber is out of the ICU (also a week earlier than expected) and in a different ward. It feels like a 5 star hotel here, and I’m having a sleepover. She’s gone Bluetooth wireless (no more oxygen or tubes attached to her and only an IV port for the last of her bloodwork). Life is starting to feel normal again. There is still going to be an adjustment period for her, and busy times are up ahead, but this softens the blow. these past days have felt both like seconds and years, and we will never forget the support.
Thank you❤️
UPDATE #2:
once again we are overwhelmed with support for our beautiful girl. Amber’s continuing to fight but she is still in a lot of pain and extremely uncomfortable. Right now we are trying to figure out if there’s anything else wrong that’s preventing her from feeling better and getting stronger. They are looking into her extremely rare battle with Lemierre Syndrome and the possibility of more blood clots. We were hoping for more improvements today, but she’s very tired and we’re hoping tomorrow will be better. The nurses and doctors taking care of her are doing everything they can and continue to leave us in awe of their care, support, knowledge and compassion. All the right people are in her court, and she has the best team we ever could’ve hoped for.
She’s being brave, but still needing thoughts and prayers. I wish I had more good news for today, but we’ll take what we can get. She has her moments that make us laugh, and her bravery is an inspiration to all of us. Keep going Amber! We miss you and we need you!
Thank you all, so, so much.
UPDATE:
Wow thank you so much everyone, the outpouring support has meant so much to us all and moved us to tears. We greatly appreciate EVERY thought, prayer, and donation. Any extra donations will be going to pay off her tuition from this semester so she doesn’t have to worry about it when she’s better (and she is getting better). She’s getting stronger every moment and for the time being she is now breathing on her own! It might be a long journey for her but your support and prayers are working!
From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much as she continues to heal ❤️

Help Amber
Our dear, sweet Amber so many of us know and love needs help.
Amber has been hospitalized due to a blood infection (we have now learned she has Lemierre Syndrome due to the bacteria findings and a blood clot in her jugular vein. This syndrome affects 1/1,000,000 healthy young adults and usually goes undetected before becoming fatal), bacterial pneumonia, influenza A, and H1N1. After being in and out of the ER countless times over the month of February for illness and a debilitating migraine that lasted 9 days, she got to the point where her sister, Abby called 911 when her lips and hands turned blue and she began shaking uncontrollably. She went to the ER in an ambulance, had numerous tests done, and after 59 hours of excruciating pain and suffering in the ER Ambulatory wing, the decision was made to sedate and intubate her so a machine could fight for her. Only 1/3 of her lungs are healthy enough to breathe, and she isn’t able to take in enough oxygen on her own to survive. As of now, she is in critical but stable condition.
Her family is rallying around her right now to give her strength. Acquaintances and family and friends have shown an amazing amount of support and they are truly touched by the love they feel around them right now.
We greatly thank you all, as well as the AMAZING ICU staff giving her round the clock care.
Currently, her brain is healthy and she has no signs of brain damage or complete organ failure (thank goodness, we still have our Amber), but her fight isn’t over.
As much as no one wants to be in this position, any donation will go to covering Amber’s rent, tuition for school she is unable to do, accommodate Amber, as well as unexpected costs incurred throughout this. Some of the donations will also cover emergency flights, accommodation, etc. amongst Ambers fight.
Her loved ones spend hours talking to her and reading to her and telling her how loved she is and how her fight isn’t over.
Now, her family is asking for assistance in her fight. Anything at all is greatly appreciated, especially prayers for their sweet lovely girl.
No one deserves this, especially not her.
