Reagan has Spinal Musicular Astrophy and is deperatly needing a procedure in Thailand to help her stay alive. She is currently 5 years old and started her first day of kindergarden TODAY. Most childern with her disease do not reach the age of two but she has beaten the odds and will continue will your help. Reagan is on of Gods angels and we have been given the honor of helping to raise her.
SMA is a genectic disease that is very similar to ALS or Lou Gherigh's disease, but in children. They suffer from low muscel tone and weakness from a very early age. The diagnosis for most children is that they will not survive beyond the age of 2 years old. Even as the most common killer of children in the U.S. (for genetic reasons), this condition is still relatively unknown, due to the fact that the mortality rate is 100% and most children pass before the age of two. We actually lost our youngest, Casey Goforth, to SMA in December of 2013 at the age of 13 months.
Despite having SMA, Reagan is full of life and quite the little daredevil!!! She loves to off road in the 4 wheeler, ride elephants, intertube behind the boat and many participate in any "high action" activity!! She is so full of life and we hope to give her a life lead to the fullest!! That is where YOU come in...... while there is currenlty now treatment in the US, she is elegible for stem cell treaments in Thailand. She has already undergone one round of treatment, which resulted in her healthiest year ever AND her improved ability to eat, speak, and breathe!!! We desperately want to give her the life she wants and deserves, and to allow her to experience that we hope to do a second round of stem cell treatments in Thailand..... the average cost of which is roughly $70,000 for us.
