In Septemeber of 2014, my aunt Teri went to the doctor because she had not been feeling well. After a colonscopy she was told that she had a mass in her colon and would have to have surgery. On September 11, 2014, she had surgery and received the dreadful news that she had stage 4 stomach and colon cancer. She was told that chemo would be needed to shrink the tumors. This was not the pronosis Teri was looking for. Teri proceeded to do a lot of reseach on her own. She found a doctor in DC that did a procedure called HIPEC surgery. The doctor had perfected this surgery and told Teri that he would accept her as a patient of his, which was great news! Teri had surgery on January 6, 2015. The difficult surgery lasted 12 hours and the doctor believes he got 98% of the cancer. She has remained in the hospital for almost a month, and a full recovery could take up to a year, with ongoing treatments and chemotherapy. She has been unable to work since being diagnosed and her husband Ron has had to take an enormous amount of time off to be with Teri. There is already an astronomical amount of medical bills.
She has a loving husband, 4 children and 7 grandchildren (so far) that she fighting to spend a lot more time with :) Her family loves her more than she will ever know!
Please consider helping my aunt, a great wife, mother, nana, family member and friend to many!
