I moved to the foothills of Northern California from New Orleans to care for my grandmother who was dying of Parkinson’s, advanced Lyme disease and severe dementia. I chose to completely uproot my life, quit my jobs and become a care giver in an incredibly isolated community of 320 people.

Unfortunately, after only 2 months of caring for her, my darling grandmother passed away on Sept 2, 2020.


Due to the COVID outbreak and caring for a loved one, I have fallen on extremely hard times. Since the area is so isolated and the nearest town is 45 minutes away, there are no jobs available to be able to save money and move back home.

I desperately want to move back home to my beloved New Orleans and the ability to provide for myself again.

To make matters harder, on the day of my grandmother’s funeral, we had a MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER for our town due to the raging North Complex/Bear/Willow fires- south of lake Oroville and have had to use my last remaining savings to stay in motels with my 12 year old pug .

THERE IS NO ESTIMATED DATE TO RETURN back up to the mountain and we only had a few minutes to grab possessions before leaving to a safe zone for now.


To anyone that can help, through funds or sharing, I AM SO INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL! It’s hard for us to ask for help but we are struggling and any little bit helps.

All donations will help me get back to New Orleans to find a home and aid in travel expenses.
