Hi my name is Nicole and I’m fundraising for my 17 year old son Cody. Cody was a normal healthy boy who loves bowling but For the last year or so Cody would get “flu “like symptoms every few months that would last 5 days to a week and then resolve itself , it was just written off as viral infections by urgent cares and it wasn’t until he got sick a few weeks apart that i knew something was definitely not right and I asked for a full and extensive blood work up from his pediatrician. When the results came in a week later one pediatrician called and said he was anemic and had a UTI, he was prescribed medicine for the UTI and I was told to start iron and vitamin d for him over the counter .Thankfully I had a in person physical set up for him that same week where we met a different doctor who was very concerned with his lab work and having a UTI being a 17 year old male . On Saturday June 4 th our world was flipped upside down ,my son was diagnosed with a large tumor on his right kidney , We were then referred to a pediatric oncologist who went on to do further testing ,The whole right kidney needs to be removed surgically and additional treatment will be needed to treat the cancer that has spread to the surrounding lymph nodes . The childrens cancer hospital that we are using is not in the island , it will require a lot of traveling and , alot of time off of work during biopsies , surgeries and treatment .We are currently exploring supplements to start before the treatment starts to give him the best chance of staying strong enough to beat this . We have a long battle ahead of us and we haven’t even started the hardest parts yet. We are asking for any help you can give to help so we can give our boy the best chance of beating cancer.
