On Valentine’s Day Kylie’s right leg was injured at a trampoline park. Kylie was treated that night at Children’s Hospital in Broomfield. Tragically, due to medical care complications, Kylie endured two surgeries on her right leg and it is now amputated above the knee.

Kylie has been suffering immense physical and emotional pain. Her parents, Don and Anita, have been by her side day and night. Despite this unimaginable horror, Kylie has been fighting to stay positive and to lift the spirits of everyone around her.

Kylie is a star soccer player, a great student, and a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Her goal is to not only walk, but to dominate the soccer field, and to be a normal teenager again.

If you would like to help, we have set up a Go Fund Me to help with some of the expenses.

Kylie got her new leg!!! She couldn’t wait to surprise one of her best friends, Charlize! The reaction is priceless!

This wasn’t supposed to happen until June 4th, but because of her determination, positive attitude, can-do spirit, strength, and conditioning, she was able to get it seven weeks early! She will now start working with a new physical therapist that will work with her to get her gate smooth and teach her how to walk again with the prosthetic leg!

As her parents, we can’t begin to tell you how proud we are of Kylie and her strength and perseverance! Her smile through this adversity has been genuine! We can’t wait to see what life has in store for this amazing young lady!

Thanks for your continued love, prayers, and support,

Kylie and Family

Kylie has been doing awesome since leaving the hospital! Prior to this situation Kylie was registered to go with her middle school to Washington DC for Spring Break. While in the hospital Anita began coordinating with the school to see if she would still be able to go on the trip and what that would look like. Not even a month out from her surgery and a week before the trip, she was cleared by her surgeon for travel and her big sister Jonna was able to be added as her chaperone. Though the schedule was jam packed with activities, with Jonnas help, Kylie was able to keep up with the group. They toured Jamestown, Williamsburg, UVA, Monticello, Lincoln Memorial, Korean Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Fords Theater, Holocaust Memorial Museum, Iwo Jima Marine Memorial, Gettysburg, Martin Luther King Jr Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Portrait Gallery, US Capitol, White House, National Archives, National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the World War II Memorial. They returned exhausted, but with memories to last a lifetime. We are very thankful to the teachers at Kylie’s school and the travel company World Strides for making this trip and accommodations possible. We are looking forward to starting the prosthesis process in the next few weeks. On behalf of Kylie and the entire family we send a huge THANK YOU for your generosity, for the love and the outpouring of support through this difficult time!

Again, we are so appreciate of the tremendous outpouring of love and support for Kylie! The Colorado Rapids sent Dillon Serna, who plays Kylie’s position, with a custom jersey and other goodies to the hospital to visit with her. Tim Howard wasn’t able to make it before she was discharged, but sent her this message and a promise to meet up on the practice fields. Kylie has already been practicing her passing skills at home with the use of a walker. She is determined to return to the field as quickly as possible!
