Por medio de este GoFundMe queremos recaudar los fondos necesarios para realizar una búsqueda marítima privada del avión YV-2604, aeronave donde viajaban nuestros esposos, los pilotos Manuel Briceño, Alejandro Vernet y Boris Meyerowitz, quienes son padres de familia, hijos, hermanos, amigos, todos de Caracas, Venezuela. Desde hace dos años y hasta el día de hoy los esfuerzos han sido infructuosos, y continúan desaparecidos.

CONTEXTO
El día 23 de enero del 2020, nuestros esposos, Manuel Briceño (Piloto), Boris Meyerowitz (Copiloto), y Alejandro Vernet (tripulante), despegaron a bordo de la aeronave YV-2604 desde el Aeropuerto Caracas (SVCS), su plan de vuelo era Caracas-Higuerote, Higuerote-Caracas sin intención de aterrizar en el aeropuerto de Higuerote (SVHG). El vuelo estaba planificado para tener una duración total aproximada de 50 minutos (ida y vuelta). El avión se encontraba en perfectas condiciones, así como también habían excelentes condiciones atmosféricas.
El YV-2604 despegó a las 12:40 pm desde el Aeropuerto Caracas. Luego, a la 1:00 pm, desaparecen del radar y se pierde la señal de su transponder. Desde ese momento no se supo más de ellos, nunca llegaron a su destino.
Ese mismo día al atardecer, al no tener noticias de ninguno de nuestros esposos, se hizo contacto con el SAR-INAC (el servicio de Búsqueda y Salvamento del Instituto Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil-INAC) quienes activaron e iniciaron la búsqueda al día siguiente, 24 de enero de 2020.
El INAC nos informaría que los registros del radar secundario de Maiquetía que se obtuvo del YV-2604 indicaban que el avión desaparece del RADAR cuando pasaba sobre el Aeropuerto de Higuerote. Así mismo, que los registros del radar del CODAI indicarían una posición muy cerca de la lectura obtenida por el radar secundario de Maiquetía apenas 17 segundos después, pero esta vez sobre el mar. Adicionalmente, de acuerdo a la última lectura de la ubicación compartida de Google Maps de uno de nuestros esposos, la traza se pierde también sobre el mar, no muy lejos del Aeropuerto de Higuerote.
De la lectura del RADAR se pudo apreciar que la aeronave mantuvo una traza uniforme, sin anomalías en su ruta. Mantuvo una velocidad de 172 nudos y altitud normal de 5100 pies, sin embargo, exactamente a la 1:00:17pm, el avión desaparece totalmente del radar.
Se continuó desde los primeros días la búsqueda por aire y por tierra, principalmente en el área entre Cabo Codera y La Sabana por estimarse que era parte típica de la ruta del YV-2604. Además del INAC, se contó también con la participación y ayuda de los diferentes entes gubernamentales, voluntarios, familiares y amigos. Entre ellos Protección Civil, Ejercito Nacional, PNB, Polimiranda, Bomberos, Organización de Rescate Humboldt, Grupo de Rescate de Venezuela, ONSA, ISAR Carabobo y sobre todo de la comunidad aeronáutica venezolana de amigos y colegas que prestaron sus aviones y gran cantidad de horas de vuelo para ser posible la búsqueda, por lo que estamos infinitamente agradecidas. La búsqueda se mantuvo incesante. Se obtenía información diariamente, cosa que ayudó a establecer nuevos puntos de interés, pero sin resultado alguno.
Al llegar los carnavales, aunque se replanteo la búsqueda, la intensidad de las operaciones disminuyeron significativamente. Nuestro interés porque continuara la búsqueda jamás cesó y no cesará hasta encontrarlos, la idea de que la búsqueda fuera suspendida nos causaba un inmenso dolor y desasosiego.
Pero el día 16 de Marzo de 2020, nuestros temores se hicieron realidad y la búsqueda se suspende debido a las medidas para el control del COVID-19. No hubo más búsqueda.
Aproximadamente 4 meses después, luego de varias reuniones, diligencias y solicitudes, se lleva a cabo una búsqueda marítima en la bahía de Carenero que cubriría solo una pequeña parte del total de la zona de búsqueda marítima arrojando, según las autoridades, resultados negativos. A pesar de haber realizado dos búsquedas más, los resultados fueron negativos. Lamentablemente no han habido más misiones de búsqueda.
LA ZONA DE BÚSQUEDA
La zona de búsqueda comprende un área terrestre (montañosa con selva muy tupida y costa) y un área de búsqueda submarina. Requiriendo ambas de distintos tipos de tecnologías especializadas para poder cubrir las zonas más probables de forma efectiva y así encontrar a nuestros esposos.
La falta de tecnología y de recursos para la búsqueda en estas zonas han sido la limitante principal de que no se pueda seguir buscando. La tecnología adecuada nos permite detectar lo que estamos buscando de manera eficaz, en este caso, el YV-2604. Sin ella, aunque se tenga la mejor intención, esto no es posible.
Es preciso entender que el éxito de la búsqueda depende entonces de determinar las áreas más probables donde se encuentra el YV-2604 y de buscar con los sensores, técnicas y tecnología adecuadas que permitan detectarlo. Nuestra posibilidad de encontrarlos está en obtener esos recursos tecnológicos para poder buscar de forma efectiva.
LA BÚSQUEDA:
El objetivo es llevar a cabo una búsqueda marítima privada para encontrar a nuestros esposos, se haría un barrido con la tecnología necesaria en los cuadrantes y coordenadas ya preestablecidas en la zona de búsqueda para que no quede duda si están o no en esa área.
La fase de búsqueda marítima [por encima de la terrestre] es la que tiene más probabilidades de éxito, después de evaluar la evidencia disponible y consultar con expertos.
Llevar a cabo la búsqueda por mar es la mejor posibilidad que tenemos para cerrar este capítulo, dos años de incertidumbre, agonía, angustia y sufrimiento para nuestras familias que hasta hoy no sabemos dónde están nuestros seres queridos.
Los costos de la logística en general, gastos administrativos, las operaciones aéreas y las operaciones subacuáticas, en fin, todo lo que acarrea esta búsqueda son muy elevados y cuesta arriba; por lo que recurrimos a esta campaña de GoFundMe, a su solidaridad y a su apoyo ya que es nuestra única opción.
A dos años de aquel día, esta situación ha sido catastrófica emocionalmente y ha representado una gran carga económica con serias implicaciones legales a largo plazo para nuestras familias.
CAMPAÑA DE RECAUDACIÓN
Concretamente con su ayuda se busca cubrir los costos de la búsqueda marítima. Hasta los momentos se estima la cantidad de USD 75,000. La búsqueda podría durar en el peor de los escenarios hasta 10 días.
Para determinar dónde y cómo se busca hemos consultado con expertos en esta materia que han analizado la evidencia disponible y generado un plan bien especifico tomando en cuenta todos los escenarios posibles.
En cuanto al destino del dinero recaudado, este será para lo siguiente:
• Operadores de sonar y de ROV.
• Alquiler de equipos como sonar, magnetómetro y ROV.
• Procesamiento de los datos obtenidos.
• Costos operativos, alojamiento, transporte, combustible, entre otros.
• Otros gastos logísticos y de equipos necesarios para la búsqueda.
Debemos decir que no vamos a dejar de buscarlos, tenemos Fe y Esperanza que los podemos encontrar y con el favor de Dios y su grandiosa colaboración esto será posible!

Our husbands, Manuel, Alejandro & Boris, have been missing for more than 2 years. We want to find them and we need your help! Please help us bring them home. Only then can we put an end to this horrific and uncertain period.
We have created this GoFundMe to raise the necessary funds for a Private Maritime Search for the YV-2604 plane, the aircraft in which our husbands were traveling. They are the pilots Manuel Briceño, Alejandro Vernet and Boris Meyerowitz, who are parents, sons, brothers, friends, all from Caracas, Venezuela. For two years and to this day, the efforts have been unsuccessful, and our husbands are still missing.

CONTEXT
On January 23, 2020, our husbands, Manuel Briceño (Pilot), Boris Meyerowitz (Co-pilot), and Alejandro Vernet (crew member), took off aboard the aircraft YV-2604 from the “Aeropuerto Caracas” airport. Their flight plan was to fly from Caracas to Higuerote and back, a one round trip flight. The flight was planned to have a total duration of approximately 50 minutes. The aircraft had recently undergone maintenance and was therefore in perfect working condition. The weather on that day was excellent for flying.
The YV-2604 took off at 12:40 pm from Caracas Airport (SVCS). Then, at 1:00 pm, it disappeared from the radar and its transponder signal also got lost. From that moment on, nothing more was known about the aircraft or our husbands. They never came back.
That same day at sunset, after having received no news about our husbands, we contacted the SAR-INAC (the Search and Rescue service of the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics-INAC) who activated emergency procedures and began the search the following day, January 24, 2020.
The INAC informed us that Maiquetía Intl’ Airport’s secondary radar records (SVMI) of the YV2604 indicated that the plane disappeared from the RADAR while flying over Higuerote airport (SVHG). Likewise, CODAI radar’s (military RADAR) records indicated that its position was lost very close to the reading obtained by Maiquetía’s secondary radar, but this time 17 seconds later and over the sea. Additionally, according to the last reading of the shared location of Google Maps of one of our husbands, the trace is indeed lost over the sea, not far from the Higuerote airport and both RADAR readings.
From the RADAR reading it was possible to see that the aircraft maintained a uniform track, with no anomalies on its route. It maintained a speed of 172 knots and a normal altitude of 5,100 feet, however, at exactly 1:00:17 pm, the plane completely disappeared from the radar.
From the first day, the search continued by air and land, mainly in the area between Cabo Codera and La Sabana, as it was estimated that it was a typical part of the YV-2604’s route. Apart from INAC, there was also participation and help of other government entities, volunteers, family, and friends. Among them Civil Protection, National Army, PNB, Polimiranda, Firefighters, Humboldt Rescue Organization, Venezuela Rescue Group, ONSA, ISAR Carabobo and especially the Venezuelan aviation community of friends and colleagues who lent their planes and many hours of flight to make search missions possible, for which we are infinitely grateful. The search continued with good momentum. Information was obtained daily, which helped establish new points of interest, but with no success.
After the 25th of February of 2020, although the search was restructured, the intensity of the operations decreased significantly. It seemed as if people gave up, they didn’t know where or how to search anymore. Our motivation and wish to search never ceased and will not cease until we find them, and the idea that the search could be suspended caused us immense pain, anxiety and uneasiness.
On 16 March 2020, our fears came true and the search was suspended by the government, due to the measures to control COVID-19. The search ended.
Approximately 4 months later, after several meetings, inquiries and requests, a maritime search was carried out in Carenero Bay, covering only a small part of the total maritime search area. According to the authorities, this search had negative results. Later, two more searches were made, again with negative results. Since then, there have been no more search missions undertaken by the government.
THE SEARCH ZONE
The search zone includes a land area with mountainous terrain with very dense jungle and coast, and an extensive underwater search area. This requires different types of specialized technologies to cover the most probable areas effectively, and thus, be able to find our husbands.
The lack of technology and resources on our government’s side has been the main limitation to continue searching effectively. The right technology allows us to detect what we are looking for: the YV-2604 with our loved ones. Without specific search technologies, even if you have the best intentions, searching underwater is not possible.
It is necessary to understand that the success of the search depends on: determining the most likely areas where the YV-2604 is and searching with the appropriate sensors, techniques and technology that allow us to detect it. Our best possibility of finding them is in obtaining those technological resources to be able to search effectively.
THE SEARCH:
The objective is to carry out a private maritime search. A sweep would be made with the necessary technology in the already pre-established quadrants and coordinates within the search area to eliminate any doubt as to whether they are in that area.
After evaluating the available evidence and consulting Search and Rescue experts, we have concluded that the maritime search, more than the land search, is the one with the highest probability of finding the YV-2604. We need to search for the aircraft in the sea. It is the best chance we have to close this two-year chapter filled with uncertainty, agony, anguish and suffering for our families.
The costs of logistics in general, administrative expenses, air operations and underwater operations, everything that a search like this one entails, are extremely high. That’s why we have started this GoFundMe campaign. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your solidarity and support, since it is our only option. FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
With your help we seek to cover the costs of the maritime search. At the moment, the estimated amount needed is USD 75,000. This search could take up to ten days.
To determine where and how to search, we have consulted with experts in this field who have analyzed the available information and generated a very specific plan, taking into account all possible scenarios.
As for the money collected, this will be used for:
• Sonar and ROV (remotely operated vehicle) operators.
• Sonar, magnetometer, ROV and further equipment.
• Processing of all information and data obtained.
• Operating costs, fuel, insurance, lodging, transportation and other expenses.
• Any other logistical & general equipment needed for the search.
We must say that we are not going to stop searching for them, we have faith and hope we’ll be able to locate them with this technology and the experts’ recommendations. With God's favor and your great collaboration this will be possible!
