HELP NEPAL BREATHE AGAIN!
Why do we need support for Nepal to breathe?
The second wave of covid has hit Nepal and India, causing widespread deaths. On Sunday, Nepal surpassed India’s per capita death rate with a 52% increase over the previous daily high.
The death rate of Nepal has continued to soar in recent days as hospitals around the nation face a crunch in the supply of life-saving oxygen gas. On Sunday, Nepal recorded 88 deaths due to Covid while on Monday it rose to 139, and on Tuesday it reached 225. On average, one Covid patient is dying every six minutes.
Nepal does not have enough resources to produce its own oxygen, and it has not received oxygen shipments for more than two weeks due to border closures and India‘s crisis. Some hospitals are now unable to make use of their already insufficient bed capacities due to oxygen shortages.
Hospitals and covid patient’s relatives are struggling to secure sufficient oxygen and the lack of beds is leading to patients being turned away.
Nepal’s health care scenario turned into a battlefield real quick with health professionals left alone fighting with no proper weapons. Oxygen supply is the biggest struggle right now.
How will your donations be used?
With your donations, we plan to set up an oxygen plant at the Chhetrapati Free Clinic (hospital) and buy 10 oxygen concentrators (5 L) for Nardevi Ayurvedic Hospital Isolation Center.
Chhetrapati Free Clinic is a community hospital that serves the marginalized, underprivileged, and unreached population of Kathmandu valley, now starting to serve as a covid hospital for many patients, adding 35-40 new beds, especially for covid patients. The hospital currently relies on the outside supply of 25 oxygen cylinders and facing oxygen scarcity to take more covid patients.
We are raising in total NPR 6,300,000 (~ USD 54000).

The total cost of the oxygen plant of 5 nm cube/hr is NPR 5,250,000 (~ USD 45000). The remaining fund will be used to cover the cost for the oxygen concentrator if available to buy in the market. If not, this extra amount will be donated to Nardevi Ayurvedic Hospital Isolation Center to cover the cost of oxygen cylinders and oxygen supply.
Out of the total cost required, NPR 2,000,000 (~USD 17,000) has already been affirmed.
We need to raise an additional NPR 4,300,000 (~USD 37000). Our friends from Switzerland are helping raise ~USD 18000. https://bit.ly/3opESUT
