GIVING WEEK FOR HONDURAS ENLACE!!

As a family medicine residency, we partner with the ENLACE Honduras foundation to provide primary care and address specific needs for communities in rural Honduras. Please help us support the Global Health needs of families in Taulabe, Honduras! 100% of Donations will be used to fund important items such as: - $5: school supplies or dental supplies for kids - $10: medications for one patient - $20: one indestructible soccer ball for the village - $90: one fuel-efficient stove.

 

ENLACE Honduras foundation is a non-profit medical relief organization, founded by Javier F. Sevilla-Mártir, MD, which supports primary care clinical services for the rural population of Taulabé, Honduras. Taulabé is in the central Comayagua region, a two-hour drive from the capital of Tegucigalpa. The clinic serves 60,000 people from 58 communities within a 5-mile radius of the clinic. In addition to primary care services with an adult and pediatric focus, part-time services are provided once a week by a dentist, psychologist, and gynecologist. The facility is a newly completed two-story building that includes 4 examination rooms, a pharmacy, and potential space for a birthing center and operating room.

 

We at the Kaiser Permanente Napa-Solano Family Medicine Residency Program have a partnership with ENLACE to support their mission and promote a Global Health initiative in Honduras. Our vision is to make annual trips with a primary care and multi-disciplinary team to help conduct needs assessments, offer direct patient care, develop health education and youth outreach, promote healthy activities with soccer and sports clinics, and support community development with organic gardening and fuel-efficient stove installations in individual homes. We will also be developing language skills to bring home through medical Spanish classes offered for the KP practitioners. We hope this partnership will be enriching and community building for everyone involved and we welcome any support you can offer to help us achieve these dreams!

 

2022 UPDATE: After over two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, the need for assistance is now greater than ever. Although the residents will not be able to travel to Honduras this summer, we are still fundraising to support ENLACE and the people on the ground who are able to help directly. The communities in Honduras continue to value our support and appreciate all of the money raised to help support their health in the coming year (see specifics above).
