Hi everyone, my name is Xia and this fundraiser was created to afford treatment for my deeply cherished cat, Kovu.

My roommates and I took in Kovu just shy of a year ago, and to say he's the best thing we've ever had the pleasure of adopting would be an understatement. He's silly, curious and an absolute sweetheart to be around.

Today, we noticed that he hadn't been drinking much water or able to pass his stool. Just leaks of pee whenever he tries to use the litter box. He was also visibly uncomfortable and grunting. This immediately came off as a concern, so we scheduled an emergency check-up—to which the vet said that his bladder was blocked and they needed to keep him at the clinic for further examination.

As lower-income college students, we very much expected the bills to be heft, nothing less. But above all, Kovu's health was a priority and we couldn't bear to have him be in pain for any longer.

The emergency visit, as well as intensive care and other necessities, came around to an estimated $3 – $3.5k. That was not an amount we could easily pull out of our pockets, due to our financial situations and obligations. One of my roommates managed to put a down payment of $500 to clear the obstruction, but there's still more that needs to be paid for to ensure that Kovu is able to recover properly.

The last thing we wanted to do was ask for help, but we were rejected from payment plans and crediting options. Some of us are currently laid off. But that doesn't change the fact that we want to give Kovu the best state of living as possible.
