Kouver’s Health Journey - Help my Boy Fight the Good Fight
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Rob. I am a Kingston-based Chef, who has had the lovely privilege of welcoming a beautiful German Shepherd Dog into my family, his name is Kouver.
Kouver is a 7-year-old purebred King Shepherd, my Emotional Support Animal, and my best friend. Kouver and I have been attached at the hip since he was a little pup. His attitude is contagious, his personality is larger than life, his care for others is unmatched, and he genuinely is everyone’s best friend.
Unfortunately, I have found out that my best friend has a tumor on his left anal gland, larger than a golf ball. We have identified that it is a malignant adenocarcinoma, a tumour that is often life-threatening to a dog. Kouver is looking at a long road of surgeries and testing, beginning soon. The procedure will not be an easy one for the surgeons. Due to the soft tissue and nerve endings in the area, this procedure will be a complex one.
This dog has been there for me through the loss of a long-term relationship, the suicide of my mother, and has been a foundation / pillar along my mental health journey. He has helped me when I was down and out, and now it is my turn. Kouver is my Emotional Support Animal, meaning he helps me with my anxiety, depression, ADHD, and post-traumatic stress; often keeping me even-keeled in public, helping me avoid breakdowns, and generally just helping me navigate life.
Kouver is looking at a procedure that could cost anywhere between $5,000.00 - $10,000.00, depending on the severity of the mass, type of mass, and any complications.

These past three years for me have been filled with exponential loss, losing my mom to her own mental health battle. Now is the time I am admitting I need help. Kouver is my world, and has had such a positive impact on so many people.

I ask kindly, if you are able to contribute to his cause, we would both greatly appreciate it. I am not ready to say goodbye to my friend. Let’s help Kouv through this tough time, and get him on the road to recovery.
Kouv and I have decided 25% of accrued proceeds should go to the local Kingston SPCA, with the remainder going towards his procedure.
Thanks to several donors, we smashed our first goal, which will help with the preliminary staging and testing! I have upped the goal to $5,000.00 to start working towards his inevitable surgery.
In total, with Kouver’s surgical expenses and CT scans, we are looking at approximately $11,000.00 in medical expenses.

Thank you all in advance.
