Those who know Kourtnee, know what a loving and courageous person she is. Her health has taken her on a terrible path more than one person should ever have to endure. She lives in a vicious cycle of ups and downs with her health; though her spirit, tenacity and love of life make her strong and she has never and will never give up! Her positivity is contagious!

A bit of background for those who may not know, Kourtnee is 28 years-old and has battled Epilepsy since she was 10-years-old. kourtnee has two tumors on each side of her brain. She has major kidney issues due to the seizure medication taking such a hard toll on her body. One kidney is completely non- functional. The other has 50% function. She had her first brain surgery about a month ago and will have another by the end of the year. During surgery it was discovered that kourtnee had a brain bleed, which could be the reason she is in so much pain from headaches.

Her journey continues year after year with the seizures progressing and the kidney worsening year after year as well. Kourtnee and her family continue to consult with specialists, as she continues to be hospitalized from complications. Her epilepsy is very dangerous and her body is very fragile.

Kourtnee will now be facing one of the toughest battles of her young life. She was hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in August,2017. During this time Kourtnee underwent her first brain surgery to see if a brain stimulator would be appropriate for her, as she has medically intractable epilepsy.

Kourtnee is on cutting edge treatments. The neurologist and neurosurgeon's are moving aggressively at one of the top research hospitals in the world! As such, she will face many expenses, medical and equipment costs. because of the seizures, kourtnee has developed a new type of hair, which would be shaving it all!!! Kourtnee has also developed a new kind of seizure. It is just like hallucinations. this beeen a crazy ride, but I refuse to give up without fighting.

One could imagine the shock and emotional roller coaster this has been. Kourtnee went from being fine one day to almost losing her life the next. She had finished her degree in law and was preparing to take the Law School entrance exam. She has wanted to be a lawyer since she was young. She has not given up on her dream.

Kourtnee is very alert and aware of the situation. She is mentally moving full speed ahead! She has some of the best doctors in the world taking care of her.

We don't have a timeframe, but this will take time and strength to get her well again. Continuing love and support is appreciated as Kourtnee will be tested and pushed to the wheelchair or scooter, etc. We are reaching out to friends, family and anyone willing to offer support. If you are in a position to offer even a small amount of money, we will be forever grateful! We will continue to give updates on Kourtnee's progress.
