Help bring Kouda home

Donation protected
I had seen many stray cats and dogs whilst in Morocco but it was very noticeable that cats are treated far better than dogs who are seen as dirty and pests, unfortunately they are still even culled despite the government policy against killing street dogs. Some dogs who are tagged (meaning they’ve been microchipped, vaccinated and sterilised) are spared.

Whilst in Essaouira I met this sweet girl whom I named Kouda who I spotted curled up against a wall. Despite her unsureness at first she turned out to be a very sweet girl who just wanted affection! She buried her head in my arms as I held her and just knew I couldn’t give up on her. As I left I watched her curl up against that cold stone wall and decided to do some research about the local shelters and how I could bring her home and make sure she’d never have to sleep in the cold or go without a meal again.

I contacted some shelters before going out the next morning to look for her, I bought water and cat food (because no shops sold dog food) for her before eventually finding her. When I gave her the food she acted as though a puppy would with toys as she jumped around excitedly.

Unfortunately that day I was leaving so my friends (who I can’t thank enough) took as many reference photos of her as possible for the shelters for when they contacted me.

Kouda is currently with the amazing sanctuary CARE who I can’t thank enough for going out and finding her and will be looking after her until she comes over here!

The costs for getting Kouda home will roughly be around £3300 including her stay at the sanctuary and all the veterinary treatment she is receiving! If it turns out to be less than this then all extra money will go to the sanctuary who has already helped so many others like me in bringing their new family members home!

- It costs £290 a month to keep her at the shelter (which includes food, care, litter, snacks, antiparasite medicine, bedding, toys, bowls and any other bits and pieces)
- It costs £403.50 for all her veterinary care
- £347.50 for transport to and from the vets
- Around £500 to get her actually to the uk

This does not include anything else that might pop up along the way but I’d like to mention that she has had her check up by now and it’s all looking good thankfully!

Thank you so much in advance for helping me bring my Kouda home! It really does mean the world!
