Our new puppy was diagnosed with Canine Parvo Virus (CPV) after we paid a breeder for him and we took him for a check-up with our veterinarian. CPV is a highly contagious disease affecting dogs. Vaccines can prevent this infection, but mortality can reach 91% in untreated cases. Appropriate vaccination should be performed starting at 7–8 weeks of age, with a booster given every 3–4 weeks until at least 16 weeks of age. The breeder we used said they vaccinated our puppy and would provide information but has since blocked us on social media and telephones. She runs a low-quality facility in San Diego that we would be happy to share with people who want to help save the other animals present. We are going to file a claim against the breeder for the growing veterinary bills and the legal fees we will be spending but it does not look promising. Anyone who can help us take care of our pup due to the unexpected expenses of a preventable illness is appreciated. We want to not only fight this battle for us but likely for others who have also been affected that don’t have a voice, are afraid to have a voice, or don’t realize that the breeder is the reason for their sadness. We have contacted PETA for help as well. This woman needs this business taken away. Our puppy, Dakota, is fighting for his life and with a 91% mortality rate we are hopeful that he will make it! The veterinary hospital is doing everything they can. Whatever it costs to save a life is what it is going to end up costing. If you have the ability to help in any way, please do.
