For many of us, 2020 has been a year of unthinkable adjustment and hardship. For Kory Robinson, this year has brought a heartbreaking diagnosis and medical uncertainty.
Kory was made aware of a cancerous tumor on his lymph nodes. He spent much of the year in the hospital, agonizing from infectious responses to treatment, unable to break quarantine and be with those closest to him. Kory battled, and after months of treatment was finally able to undergo a procedure to remove the tumor.
Within the weeks following surgery, Kory yet again became ill. Doctors found not only the reemergence of the cancer, but also signs of potential spreading throughout other parts of his body.
The nature of his condition has demanded dozens of secluded nights in hospital beds -- nights alone with high fevers, relentless pain and discomfort, and now radiation therapy.
Despite this Kory has endured. And unlike the rest of the world in 2020, he's carried on without a single complaint. His resilience in a punishing situation comes as no surprise to those lucky enough to know him well.
Kory's presence is infectious; his passion for cooking, music, movies and spending time with his friends and family at his favorite places fill the room with cheerfulness. You want to be wherever he is. He exudes loyalty and selflessness.
Kory spent 10 years in the kitchen at Trio Cafe, 5 years at Gourmet Market, and played drums in King's Revenge and Sons of the Southside.
Now, Kory needs us, but he would never ask for help in fear of putting himself first. The goal of this page is to collect donations from anyone who has the means to provide a helping hand to Kory, without him knowing. Medical bills are now constant and unforgiving.
