Hello, as of Thursday, April 18th Korra was rushed to Blue Pearl Specialty Hospital in Maitland. Her red blood cell count Tuesday was 38 and dropped to 16 on Thursday which required an emergency blood transfusion. Korra will be at Blue Pearl for a minimum of 4 days, has to have multiple blood draws to monitor her levels, and is currently on her second blood transfusion. The vet said her organs are good, and her scans came clean, no cancer. However, her body is attacking its red blood cells. Korra was diagnosed with intravascular IMHA an autoimmune disease. We are patiently waiting for her immunosuppressants to kick in, in hopes it will stop her body from attacking the red blood cells. Until that happens, she will continue under the care of Blue Pearl receiving daily blood transfusions which is very hard on her body. Due to the loss of red blood cells, her body and gums are turning yellow. We get to visit, and it’s so painful to see our spry little girl so helpless and sick. Korra is fighting very hard to make it through this, and we are appreciative of any help towards Korra's medical treatment you are willing to give. Anything raised over the remaining bill amount we will be donating to the Italian Greyhound Rescue of Florida.
Korra is loved by many of you, and she loves you all just as much. Please continue to send her well wishes, she needs them and we greatly appreciate them.
Thank you,
Nicole & Dave
