Kori's Riverside Condo Support

A Go Fund Me has been set up for Kori Kuaana. Her condominium has been greatly impacted by the flooded Mendenhall River on August 5, 2023. Her condominium is the building that has been precariously hanging on the bank of the river, D5. The building is condemned.

Kori grew up in Juneau and moved back in August 2019 where she worked hard for her beautiful home on the river.

Kori currently is living and working on Lana'i Island in Hawaii. She rented her condo in March 2023 and since this disaster, the tenants have been displaced and terminated their rental contract. This has left Kori with extensive financial hardship. Kori's family can help in some areas but not all costs.

Kori left her tenants with a fully furnished condo which includes a piano that's been in the family for over 70 years and a handmade curio cabinet from her late great grandmother. The loss is tremendous.

As of 8/10/2023, Kori's building has been worked on by great engineers and workers, doing their best to stabilize it. We are not out of the woods yet. It could be unliveable for up to a year.

Kori is looking for financial support to help get her through the next 3 to 6 months.

1. Getting movers to get items out of her condo when it is no longer condemned. Household furnishings include a full kitchen and 2 bedrooms along with a couch and 2 large chairs, coffee and end tables. Cost for movers is approximately $2000.

2. Finding and obtaining a storage unit. Kori has called Juneau Self Storage to obtain a unit to fit her belongings. She is also contacting AAA Movers. She is still waiting to hear back from them. She is looking for a minimum of 5x5 which is approximately $90 per month.

3. Assist with mortgage payments and HOA dues of approximately $2000 per month until relief funds are received.
