Korina needs your help.

Hello, my name is Robert Brence. I'm setting up this GoFundMe account for my daughter Korina Fischer (Brence).

She was recently diagnosed on August 9th with severe Hyperthyroidism and Graves Disease.

With a history of PTSD/anxiety/panic attacks and multiple surgeries, injuries and illnesses, including Covid, a Hysterectomy, double knee surgeries to stabilize her patellas, shoulder reconstruction from a work injury, and a spinal injury from a vehicular accident in which she was T-boned by another vehicle, have all led to a highly compromised auto-immune system. In addition, treatment is even more challenging with allergic reactions to many pharmaceuticals.

All these issues cumulated in a traumatic event last weekend (Aug 19th) called a Thyroid Storm. This event overloaded her system with a toxic level of TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone), causing an urgent rush to the ER. Severe body/muscle tremors, elevated HR (165), BP (170/135), respiration rate (25), and a low O2 saturation (89%). While in the ER, she suffered cardiac arrhythmia. (she may need a pacemaker to help regulate heart functions in the future). Once somewhat stabilized, she was admitted to the ICU for monitoring. 24hrs later, she was moved to a regular room for the rest of the night. The next day she was released and went home. After several hours, she suffered another event that sent her back to the ER via an ambulance because, left untreated, a Thyroid Storm can be fatal if not treated immediately. Then she was rereleased after getting the conditions stabilized.

After a very exhausting and traumatic weekend, she is now home looking at a long recovery period to heal, with bi-weekly blood tests to monitor toxicity levels and a daily regimen of medications. Unfortunately, the side effects of all the medicines are causing memory loss and vertigo, making it difficult for her to perform simple daily tasks and functions. Without a time frame to return to work, she is now burdened with the astronomical costs associated with the ER/ICU/Ambulance/medicines. The monthly medications cost alone is over $600.

Unfortunately, she is not currently covered by medical insurance. In addition, she is unable to get coverage under her husband Nathan's medical policy due to all the pre-existing conditions. Not eligible for Medicaid. Since Hyperthyroidism and Graves Disease are not considered a disability, there is no help there either. She is currently applying for unemployment.

This situation is taking a toll on her family, seeing her in so much pain/distress and placing more burden on Nathan now as the only source of income. She has always been such a strong person overcoming all these past adversities. She is a caring, compassionate, loving person; it crushes us all to see her in so much pain and distress. We all thought we were going to lose her!

Because of all this, I'm reaching out to the GoFundMe community and everyone who sees this to help reduce this financial burden and lessen the stress factors for this family. Any contributions will be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will be used exclusively for medical bills and medicine.
