Hey Friends, we're asking for your support as we are in a critical moment of navigating the potential long term effects of COVID-19 on our small business. As many of you know small businesses will be getting hit the hardest in these next couple of months and we are humbly asking for your support.
We are a woman-owned, self-funded business of eight years and small team of two creating clothing sustainably and ethically. Endless growth and expansion has never been our end goal, or our view of success. We believe in outward growth rather than upward growth, and in bringing our community along with us on this journey of higher learning and living. Opening our shop this past November 30th has allowed us to do just that. In just a few short months we've organized free mending workshops, intro to knitting nights, panel events to learn more about circular design and sustainability, and Thoughtful Happy Hours for our community to gather and share insights on how to live more sustainably across industries (our last meet up we hosted a team member from GrowNYC to teach us how to properly compost!). Having the opportunity to organize, gather and empower our community by sharing knowledge has been the heart and soul of our business.
Closing up our shop this week for an unknown amount of time will directly affect our cash flow, and while we're no longer living life as usual our flow of production and outgoing costs has not come to a halt. We've put together a bare bones projection of what we'll need to pay rent, keep our employee on payroll and settle up urgent production invoices for our artisans. We understand that so many of you are feeling the same burdens, we ask that you donate only if you have the means necessary. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and we hope that you'll come and visit us once the storm clears.
"Kordal Studio is a clothing brand that creates quality, responsibly made garments that exemplify the possibilities of sustainable design. All collections are designed and produced in an ethical manner by designing garments that are not trend focused; by using natural, organic, and recycled textiles; and by paying our workers a fair wage."
