KONAH'S CARE

Konah needs your help. This 5-year-old male Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever was bitten by an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake on Sunday, Oct 12, while taking a typical backyard potty break. When he came inside, his Dog Mom KNEW something wasn't right. Within 10 minutes, Konah's parents were rushing him to their local Animal ER, and the rollercoaster began. It was determined that the snake bite was the most POTENT VENOM these experienced vets had dealt with. Time was critical, and as soon as they determined what type of anti-venom was needed, Konah began the fight of his life. Anti-venom is apparently like gold and VERY expensive. Without this intervention, Konah would die. Beyond the fact that Konah is a beloved family member, he is also a service animal for his Dog Dad, who is now a disabled veteran having faithfully served in Afghanistan. Konah was given to this veteran at 7 months old and then trained to serve as emotional support during night terrors, migraines, and service-related trauma. Konah has an important job to do, and he needs your help to fight his way past this crisis.

He has required the most vials of anti-venom that his doctors have ever seen - that snake was a beast from hell apparently. As he is now transferred to Gainesville, he needs your help. He will need to be monitored around the clock, have labs drawn, and more anti-venom given as needed. He continues to be his sweet self on the outside, but inside he's fighting a war that must be won.
