Kolt's Run for Terry Fox Cancer Research Charity

Donation protected
Dear Family & Friends,

I am running in my first charity race for a very good cause that raises money for Cancer Research.

The charity is called the "Terry Fox Foundation". Its namesake is for a 19 year old boy who was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in his right leg; the leg was amputated six inches above his knee. The night before his amputation he read about an amputee runner and dreams of running.

Terry begins training for the Marathon of Hope, a cross-Canada run to raise money for cancer research and awareness.

After a year of training, at the age of 21, Terry dips his artificial leg into the Atlantic Ocean and begins his odyssey cross country. He runs an average of 26 miles a day through six provinces.

After 143 days and 3,339 miles Terry's primary cancer had spread to his lungs and he must stop before he is able to make it to the Pacific Ocean. He succumbs to the disease at the age of 23.

Isadore Sharp, Chairman and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, telegrams the Fox family with a commitment to organize a fundraising run that would be held every year in Terry’s name. He writes, “You started it. We will not rest until your dream to find a cure for cancer is realized.”

Every year millions of people participate in the "Terry Fox Run", the Foundation has raised over $800 million to support cancer research in Terry’s name.

Thank you for your donation to this cause & supporting my 10 lap run.
