Monday 1/10/22 we had a eye dr. Appt for kolby for his recent headaches. Upon arrival at the eye dr. a hemorrhage was found behind his left eye & swelling of the veins around the eye. The eye dr. wanted us to see his pediatrician. Fast forward to Wednesday 1/12/22 we saw his pediatrician who came in the room did a few test and immediately said she was calling childrens hospital in STL. Childrens hospital wanted to see him the same day and asked we bring him to the ER entrance. We arrived at the hospital in st louis with him around 12 noon and by 6 PM we were admitted. They did blood work, 2 eye exams, & a MRI. The MRI showed a 2CM mass in the center of his brain and excess fluid on the brain being hydrocephalus. So after being admitted Wednesday. Thursday they did a spinal MRI & blood work. Friday 1/14/21 he had his EVT Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy where they went into the brain and tried to create a opening to release the cerebral spinal fluid that is building up due to the mass blocking the ventricle & then they went in, in another area of the brain to take a biopsy.

Update 1/27/22
Today Kolby was diagnosed While we didn’t get the best news today we will TRUST God and will lean on him!!!

Kolby’s diagnosis-
Germinoma & Mature Teratoma
(these are related tumors)

Kolby will get a central line put in next week and also have a spinal tap.

He will start 4 cycles of Chemotherapy (each being 21 days).
3-4 days admitted then home for the remaining days in the cycle.
After the first 2 cycles are complete he will have an MRI and reevaluate.
If they determine he needs surgery at that point to resect the tumor they assure us Kolby is a good candidate.
After he finishes chemo he will have 6 weeks of radiation (Mon.-Fri. every week). He will be able to return home on the weekends.

Please continue to pray for Kolby and our family.
Please pray for God will guide the physicians to provide Kolby the best possible treatment.
Please pray that Kolby’s body will tolerate the treatments with minimal side effects.

❤️Thank you to all who have prayed for, texted, or called our family!

These funds will be used for gas, lodging, meals, hospital necessities, bills that still come due regardless of this heart wrenching future ahead of his family.
