Kol Ami Xeriscape Landscape Project

We are excited to announce that the Highland Utah South Stake has adopted Congregation Kol Ami for a Waterwise Service Project to Xeriscape the areas surrounding our synagogue.


This amazing opportunity began as the dream for Dovan Lapin's Bar Mitzvah project. His father Jeremy Lapin, has coordinated with some of his professional contacts to make this happen. The benefits will help us to save water costs as well as beautify our grounds and our neighborhood.

The Highland Utah South Stake will be bringing approximately 100 volunteers in addition to donating the heavy equipment and funds to support this project. Their generosity has provided Kol Ami with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to install water saving landscape improvements valued at over $150,000 for just a fraction of that cost. In fact the only costs are those needed to obtain the landscaping materials.

Our Kol Ami goal is to raise $35,000 in the next two weeks to purchase irrigation materials, mulch, shrubs, and trees for this project. We have set up links to donate directly to Kol Ami for this project or through a GoFundMe site. Please consider donations to this project over and above your annual giving to Kol Ami.

The work will take place Monday, August 3rd through Friday, August 7th from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm each day. Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering your time to help. Refreshments and food will be provided. Socially distant guidelines will be in place.
