As many of you know, I am currently attending college in Hawai’i and my family is in Saipan.
Super Typhoon Yutu (Cat. 5 & Most powerful Typhoon on Earth in 2018 thus far) has just directly hit my home island. The eye of ST Yutu passed straight through the island leaving a trail of devastation and destruction; my home included (pictured above). I had kept in contact with my brother Mark throughout the storm and he told me our home was gone. When he sent me pictures of my home it was unrecognizable. The roof was gone and everything inside the house was destroyed. I dont know where my family will be sleeping now that they don’t have home. Both my parents and my brother work so there is some income. However the price to rebuild a home is far more than what my family can handle alone. Most of the other buildings in Saipan are also destroyed which lowers the chances of finding a habitable place until they figure out the next step.
At this point my family doesn’t know what the next step is and they are praying for guidance, and are continuing to persevere despite the situation. Our family would appreciate your help! At first I was hesitant on making this page but I realized this is the best way I can help my family since I’m so far away from them. Upon hearing the news of my home being destroyed I was still extremely grateful God kept my family safe throughout the storm.
Any financial support for them would be a huge blessing and will help my parents and brother get back on their feet. The entire island of Saipan will lack electricity, clean water and other crucial resources because of Yutu’s intensity. The money raised will go straight into funding our home repair and other basic necessities.
