Kokua for Makana Brown

Aloha Family & Friends, We are asking for support for 14 yr old Makana Brown, and her family, as we will be facing a difficult few years ahead. She has been recently diagnosed with an optic nerve/pathway glioma which is a large tumor inside the nerve behind her eye. This has already caused Makana to be blind in her left eye.  She has surgery scheduled this month and at this point the specialist plan for her to undergo chemotherapy for 2 years, maybe more. Without this treatment the tumor will gradually grow and will have a negative impact on her brain functions. We are seeking support and donations for routine expenses the family will be using for daily living and travel from Lana`i to O`ahu, for the much needed treatment. This will be a long and scary process for Makana and all of her family with a lot of unknowns for her future. Any support would be greatly appreciated as Makana's mom Nina (a single mother) will have to take some time off work to help provide her with needed care.
