Kokua Dayne Fujiwara

Dayne Fujiwara (Honolulu, HI) passed away early in the morning of Tuesday, February 26, 2019. He was 56 years old.

Dayne was an avid diver who excelled in the sport of free diving. He competed locally, as well as at the national level. Though he was a fierce competitor, he was always willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn how to free dive.

He had a great sense of humor, was kind to all, and would help any one in need. One thing everyone who knew Dayne would agree with is he was determined. Whatever he put his mind to, he accomplished. Dayne ran the Honolulu Marathon - twice - and completed the Honolulu Century Ride (a 100 mile bicycle ride around Oahu). More amazing is he completed all three events without training.

Because he had such a big heart and a giving spirit, his friends hope to help his family defray his medical and funeral expenses. Before his passing, Dayne was in the hospital for 4 weeks determined to beat the odds as he battled stage 4 melanoma. Dayne kept his health private but as soon as his friends learned of the gravity of his illness, they were there to support him and his family - just as he would have done for anyone else. Gratefully he had a team of nurses who kept him comfortable in his final days.

We are blessed to have had Dayne in our lives. We are comforted knowing he is now pain-free.

Thank you for your support of our campaign

Until we meet again . . .  a hui hou Dayne.
