Koko's life saving heart surgery

Hi, this is my little dog Koko. She's only 11 months old and was born with a hole in the heart.

We spontaneously rescued Koko from a breeder. In her routine vet check up, it was discovered she has a severe heart murmur ( grade 5 out of 6) and heart scans confirmed the hole in her heart. Since Koko is only a pup, she doesn't show any symptoms yet and is active and happy. However, her heart's left side is overloaded with blood and has enlarged twice the size and this will cause the heart muscle to lose strength and ability to pump blood. This will lead to congestive heart failure disease that cannot be helped. Then it would be too late.

Koko has only 6 to 9 months left to live, if she doesn't receive the surgery before she develops the symptoms.

DSPCA specialist Martin O'Toole, who carried out the heart scan and diagnosed Koko, had referred us to specialist in Northern Ireland - Julie Hamilton in NIV. Julie is the only specialist in Ireland, that can perform this surgery : Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). And yes, it is very expensive. Sadly, the alternative for Koko is to be PTS within 6 to 8 months time. There's really no alternative for her...

I hate asking for money, but I simply don't have such amount. But there's hope for Koko still, if we can raise the donations, so I'm desperately pleading for help.

I have adopted good few dogs over last 2 decades, always 'special' cases, the ones that needed rescuing, needed safe homes, needed love or just needed to be left alone and do their thing. I'm not a charity, I'm a regular person with one income, mortgage, bills etc. I do my best to take care of my dogs, their vet needs etc, but this is something I cannot do without your help.

I have lost my beautiful chihuahua Elsa just 2 days before Christmas, due to congestive heart failure disease and it was a horrible ending. Her final vet bill was huge; her loss and the way it happened will haunt me forever. So I want to save Koko, she still has a chance that Elsa didn't, and I cannot go through this loss again. Koko has a whole life ahead of her, as recovery rate of PDA surgery is almost 100% and she could live a normal happy life that she deserves, otherwise she will not see her 2nd birthday.

I will upload the official quote from NIV, all the donations will go to the vet for Koko's surgery, i will make it as transparent as possible, as i am aware of scammers out there. I want Koko to live, that is my goal.
