Hi my name is Michelle Newns-Peers and I am the founder of Greater Manchester Lost Dog Search & Rescue C.I.C, which is a voluntary organisation. We have helped many lost dogs get safely home over the last 9 years and we now desperately need your help please. Before the XL Bully ban came into effect, an XL Bully puppy was found abandoned on the streets. He was only 16 weeks old and had an anal prolapse. A volunteer (not ours) took him to the emergency vets but the vets could not give him treatment as there was nobody to pay for it. I saw the post asking for help on social media and offered to pay for the treatment under Greater Manchester Lost Dog Search & Rescue Capture Team C.I.C, which cost over £1000. This was in October 2023. (See link to the original post below.)
We took him on and named him Koki (owner was found but she did not want him back). We did several home checks to find an adopter for him but to no avail. Just before the ban came into effect in January 2024, we still did not have a home for him. This was urgent by then as there were only a few weeks before he had to be exempted and all forms completed. I had no choice, in order to keep him safe, but to adopt him under Greater Manchester Lost Dog Search and Rescue.
He now desperately needs a cruciate ligament operation as he has damaged the ligament and is in a lot of pain. The operation is booked for the 3rd November and it is going to cost an estimated £3500 which we need to raise urgently. We really need help with this please as he is not medically insured (insurance companies don’t insure banned breeds, exempted or not). Anything that you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated, especially by Koki. Please help by donating and sharing .
