Please meet retired police K9 Kody. In early 2019 Kody was diagnosed with Lymphoma, found while his handler was rubbing his neck. Kody was treated with chemotherapy by the Michigan State University Oncology team throughout 2019 and 2020. Kody did not miss a day of work with the Bloomfield Township Police Department until his retirement date of June 4, 2020. Kody's handler assumed all financial responsibilities for Kody, including his chemotherapy treatments.
Kody still has good quality of life left to live. Kody's handler needs help paying for chemotherapy and the prescriptions to counter the effects of the chemo. He is currently receiving treatments.
Kody worked his entire career for Bloomfield Township, assisting the community and those that surround it. Not only is he beloved by his co-workers and those in the communities he served, he is even more loved at home. He has kept his family safe and continues to provide them love and comfort. He is a dog who will be sorely missed.
Kody's handler would like Kody to continue his retirement as long as his good quality of life continues. Any assistance to help ease the burden of chemotherapy payments would be extremely appreciated. Should Kody become ill to the point he will no longer receive treatments leftover funds will be turned over to the following charities: Hope in Motion Foundation, Sage Foundation, and the War Dog Memorial.
