Kodi's Fight for Kai

It's likely the first people to participate in this campaign will know Kodi personally and so their motivations will have been in place for a long time.

For those of you that don't, Kodi is a father to a beautiful little boy, Kai. Shortly after he was born he proposed to the mother of the child and girlfriend of several years.
Kodi often worked overtime to support his son and fiancé, until last September when they felt they could use space to work on their differences. They aimed for 6-8 weeks. Kodi was hopeful in a resolution. In that time she began dating someone else and eventually stopped letting Kodi see their child all together without giving reason. This was as devastating as you can imagine for someone who values their family.

Kodi was just served papers. She's filed a paternity suit against him and has provisioned that she have sole-decision making authority and that he may only have supervised visitation. 

We hear about these injustices all too often, where a person actually suitable to be a parent is left childless because of the brashness and immaturity of the other. And so we are crowd funding for legal representation for Kodi.

A lawyer has agreed to handle the case for $1500 upfront and $1500 in multiple payments. Covering the downpayment is our goal!

Please keep in mind: although we are asking for financial support, essentially we are here fighting for Kai to have a father.

"I have an uphill battle and cannot afford a lawyer on my own. I could with your help. I am not one to ask for help but a friend of mine convinced me to do this. I am totally uncomfortable with the fact that if you donate to this cause I would have no way to repay you. I promise you that you are not giving money to a dead beat. I have done everything within my power to support and love my child. I am in a situation where the lawyer has tried to give me rock bottom and give her everything. Now I have to plead my case. I hope things can be worked out in mediation but if not it goes to trial where thousands of dollars are going to be spent by both of us.
