Kodie-Joe’s cancer journey

My name is Shae, and I’d like to tell you a little bit about my Kodie.

Kodie-Joe has just turned 2 years old, he lives with me and Kayleigh as well as his 1 year old little sister Gracie. On Monday 15/02/21 Kodie was taken to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Gateshead after speaking with NHS 111 on the phone regarding constipation he had been suffering from for 8 days. They advised his parents to take him to a&e to be checked over. There they decided to send him for an X-ray and found a lump. After multiple blood tests and being transferred to RVI, they sedated him and send him for a CT scan where our worst nightmare was confirmed and we were told he has a cancerous tumour in his stomach. 

Kodie had ct scans, mri scans, mibg scans, injections, bone marrow aspirations, lumbar punctures and more to find out the cancer was stage 4 Neuroblastoma, not only did he have a massive tumour in his stomach but it had also spread to his bone marrow and to his bones. We were told he would begin treatment immediately which included an 8 week chemotherapy course, many surgeries, an intensive chemotherapy course after this, scans, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and everything in between.

I’d like to raise as much money as possible, half of the total to help out with the costs of travelling to and from the hospital everyday, the costs of staying in hospital for multiple weeks as well as caring for a baby at home to take as much financial stress away from us as a family at this already awful time. The other half of the total raised will go towards paying off our caravan holiday we have booked for September so that we have something to look forward to without the worry of paying it off and to give us all a well deserved break. We would like to use the money to create as many happy memories as we can on the good days as there are very few he has.
