Kodi Needs Our Help!

Kodi is a beautiful, sweet, 6-year-old Siberian Husky. On Tuesday, Nov. 6th, Kodi started having issues with his breathing. As any concerned pet owner would do, Ryan Morales took Kodi to an Animal Hospital ER. There, the Morales’ were informed that Kodi had a punctured pleura. The pleura is a pair of serous membranes lining the thorax and enveloping the lungs in humans and other mammals. Essentially it protects our lungs from getting crushed by other organs. The puncture in Kodi’s pleura caused it to fill with air pockets. These air pockets put pressure on Kodi’s lungs making it very difficult for him to breath. The vet was able to remove the air pockets on Tuesday night and sent Kodi and Ryan home with a $1,600 bill. Unfortunately, the very next day Kodi’s pleura started to fill with air pockets again. Ryan took Kodi back to the hospital where he remained most of the day on Thursday the 8th. The vet implanted tubes in Kodi’s chest so Ryan can try and remove the air from his chest while he heals. If Kodi’s body doesn’t heal on its own then he will have to have surgery. The surgery will call for a CT scan which is very expensive. The CT quotes he has gotten were around $4,000, which doesn’t include the cost of the surgery itself. No one should face the reality of having to choose between the life of their best friend and financial stability, however, that is the world we live in. But that is where you can help! Even if it is only $10, if we all work together we can make sure that Ryan and his family are able to provide Kodi with the care he needs. Kodi is young and has a strong spirit. I just know that he will be able to pull through this if we are able to come together and support the Morales’ with our contributions and prayers.
