Kodas life saving surgery

Hi my name is Koda,and I just turned 5. Last week I moved to my new house. I’m finally gonna have a big yard to play in. During the move my parents noticed I was breathing a bit funny but thought it was from the stress and anxiety of all the big changes happening. When the end of the weekend came around my parents noticed my laboured breathing started to get worse and worse so off we went to the vet.

The results were not good... I was diagnosed with spontaneous pneumothorax, a small rupture in one of my lungs causing it to leak slowly into my chest cavity. This created a bunch of pressure against my lungs causing my breathing to be restricted. The vet ended doing a lung tap and pulled 1 litre of air out my left side to help me breath more stable, after that it was a short emergency car ride to the hospital where I stayed in the ICU for a week. By day 3 things were looking up I had a second chest tap days earlier where they pulled another 1.5 litres of air out and my breathing has been stable since then. I was going to get to go home!. My parents were on there way to get me. Halfway there the vet called with the most recent x ray result's… the results were not good. The leak had started again, they were told I needed emergency surgery right now. As any good parents they authorized it and said “save his life”.

Post op was not good for me the surgery went well but due to all the tubes down my throat and my upset stomach to all the medicine I was given caused me to get esophagitis. Which then caused me to to get pneumonia from all the puking. Things just kept getting worse for me. Fast forward to discharge day and I still wasn’t doing that great but I knew home is where I needed to be. My parents didn’t have insurance for me either so they were worried about how much all of this was going to cost and they were right.

16000 dollars is what it cost to save my life and nobody saw that coming. I’m back home now and on to a speedy recovery but now my parents are stressing how they will pay for all this. If there’s any pup lovers out there please help them out, anything is appreciated.
