Update: Kodah had returned home after a very successful surgery. He was released from Blue Pearl Pet Hospital on Sunday evening after the surgeon and veterinary team had time to monitor him for two days postop. The surgery went as well as it could have as the surgeon easy identified the impacted lung area that was the source of the air leak and was able to remove a portion of the lobe to prevent further and future issues. A thorough inspection of the lungs showed no other blebs (holes that leak air) were present. Kodah is expected to make a full recovery in due time. After two weeks of quite time and bed rest we will return to the vet for a  follow up appointment to remove his stitches as well as possible xrays to ensure recovery is going as planned. All good news aside from him returning home with the worst haircut we have ever seen. More updates to follow as we push forward in the next few weeks. Kodah is the single most loving dog that many of us have ever met.  Throughout his adventures along the west coast he has brought countless joyfull experiences to the many friends and loved ones he has made over the years.


Despite his good health and radiant positivity, Kodah has suddenly been diagnosed with a very serious but treatable lung complication called Spontaneous pneumothorax, a condition where air escapes the lungs and fills the chest cavity.  After several days at the emergency vet monitoring his condition we hoped that the rupture would heal on its own, but are now forced to move forward with surgery in order to save his life. We are expecting a positive outcome and recovery.


This has been a horribly unexpected situation for the pair. As both Paolo and Kodah have many more healthy years ahead of them we saw no other option but to do all that we can to try and keep the pair together. As you can expect, medical expenses have accumulated quickly and we are hoping to alleviate Paolo and Kodah from the high stress situation they are in by helping them tackle the financial burden they currently face.
