Kobus donation car crash SBL Denver

While attending the Society of Biblical Literature conference in the U.S.A., I was in a car crash during the snowstorm of 17 November 2022 in Denver, Colorado. The insurance I took out refused to pay out because I am not a US Citizen. In itself, this is a whole different story...

The rental car was written off and the car rental company demanded circa $19 500 from me out of pocket. After three months of legal counsel both here in Europe and the U.S.A., a letter was written that we decline to meet the full demand based on mitigating circumstances. The rental company was professional and gracious enough to accept that I made a valid claim, and that they rented me a car with tire tread that was below what the traction law in Colorado required during winter, which was a contributing factor in the car sliding on the ice during that snowstorm. They offered to settle for 50% of the original amount. I now owe them $9591, 50. We thank God for this first miracle. Now we trust God and our friends who understand our situation for help with the rest.

I have until the closing of day on 28 February to settle the amount, otherwise, the offer will be made null and void.

Without any pressure, if you would like to contribute, please do so a few days before 28 Feb, as it takes some days to transfer funds from Belgium to the U.S.A. and I must legally meet the deadline they imposed on me.
