Kobi's Blood Transfusion and Treatments
Donation protected
Hi, from Kobi (aka. Bubba)'s parents Marlena & Jordan,
On the evening of Sunday, January 14th Kobi fell ill suddenly.
Due to nothing appearing urgent at the time, we went to bed with hopes that in the morning Kobi would be back to himself. Sadly, throughout the night Kobi's condition got worse as he was up multiple times throwing up. When we got up in the morning, we said Kobi's favourite words "morning kibbles" and instantly we knew something was seriously wrong as we got no reaction and Kobi was more lethargic than ever before. After refusing to eat, I took him outside and that's when I realized that Kobi needed immediate vet attention as he was urinating dark blood.
We took him to our family vet in Squamish, they did a bloodwork and urine test. Kobi was running a terrible fever and the bloodwork came back that Kobi had internal hemorrhaging followed by anemia. Therefore, Kobi had a dangerously low red blood cell count and would need to be sent to the emergency vet in Vancouver for more tests and a blood transfusion.
This is only the first step of critical care intervention to get our little Bubba life saving treatment, they have been preparing us for more costs to come to get him healthy enough to come back home.
Unfortunately, we are not covered by pet insurance so the cost of Kobi's vet visits are coming straight out of pocket. So far the treatments that Kobi are under going are that we have already paid up front are for:
IVs, bloodwork, urinalysis, 4DX (tick borne disease test), blood typing, slide agglutination test, sedation, chest xrays, ultrasounds, blood transfusion, medications and 24 hour hospitalization.
The treatments so far have added up to $5000.
He's our very best friend and the sudden illness and uncertainty that Kobi has fallen under has caused our little family a great deal of stress. With that being said, we are asking for any donations you have the capacity for to help us cover even a portion of the cost.
Anyone that knows us, knows how much Kobi means to us and that we would do anything to keep our little guy happy and healthy.
Thank you, with love from all of us.
