On January 8th, our first baby Kobe (5yrs old) sudden collapsed losing function of his back legs. Within the hour he was diagnosed with Sattle Thrombus (FATE), where a blood clot breaks off and travels through the aorta, cutting off blood supply to the back legs. It is an excruciatingly painful condition with a very low survival rate.
The vet said he would require a minimum of 3 days in the hospital, where he would continue to receive ketamine and fentanyl treatment for his severe pain, as well as oxygen therapy and lung drainage for the fluid that is accumulating in his lung likely due to heart failure. Taking him home in this state is not an option, as he would be in agony… however $10,500 for 3 days of a hospital stay is completely financially infeasible. We are completely devastated and would give anything for him to have a a fighting chance in the hospital.
If he makes it through this clot, he will then need weekly visits to a cardiologist… something that is also financially impossible for us. We don’t know what to do…. ANY help is appreciated. This is our first baby, we are absolutely broken. Thank you so much for reading and giving what you can.
