Hello everyone,

I'm starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my little brother Koan. Earlier this week, he and my sister were involved in a near-fatal car accident. We believe the car he was driving in was rear-ended, but he won't know for sure until the police report comes out. Either way, his car flew off the 101 overpass and they plunged 50 feet to the street below. While my sister was able to leave the ER half a day later with a broken rib and some lacerations, Koan was admitted to the hospital and is still there recovering, even four days later.

His right leg was badly broken in the crash and he had to get surgery to have a titanium rod put in. His other injuries include a broken nose and some facial injuries that required stitches and staples, not counting the numerous lacerations and bruising to the rest of his body.

To make matters worse, Koan was supposed to start his job the very next day. His vehicle was his place of living until he was able to save up enough money for a place to rent. In his car, he had his prized guitar and collection of vintage clothing and books he's spent years accumulating. Quite literally, other than his life, he lost everything in the crash.

Koan will be staying with me while he recovers, but I live on the second floor of an apartment building without any elevators and so it is not an ideal place for him to stay. I am currently looking for a room somewhere on the first floor so he has an easier time moving around while his leg heals (which doctors have said will take months). I don't want to have to send him to a rehabilitation facility, but we currently don't have the financial means for anything else at the moment.

So I'm hoping that this GoFundMe can help him get into a temporary place, find another vehicle, and get him a new guitar at the very least.
